October 2012, Volume 2, Issue 10

Happy October, Synerlink friends,

Please be sure to click the ‘opt-in’ link in the email you received from me last week to ensure you don’t miss any future issues of the newsletter.

In other news: If you live in the Omaha area, I will be speaking on “Your Love-Hate Relationship with Food: How to Dump Your Bad Nutrition Habits and Fall in Love with Your Food Again” at the annual Omaha Women’s Health & Wellness Conference on October 5. Hope to see you there! 🙂 http://www.olsoncenter.com/home/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=340&Itemid=210

My favorite article this month is by Debora Spar, and it is such an important article. Unfortunately high-achieving women are often plagued with the flip-side of their ambition – perfectionism. “…A woman cannot work a 60-hour-per-week job and be the same kind of parent she would have been without the 60-hour-per-week job. No man can do this; no human can do this.” Why are we holding ourselves to the worst double-standard – to create the perfect 1950’s home on top of the liberated, high-powered career. It’s time to stop beating ourselves up for an impossible goal. One of the points I liked best about the article was the need to ask for help – to let the men in our lives know what we need – and to support each other.
